Motorist blames city of Houston for crash

Car accident 44

HOUSTON — A Harris County motorist is suing Houston, alleging negligent hiring of a driver.

Mateo Guzman filed a complaint May 16 in Harris County District Court against the city of Houston, alleging a city employee negligently caused the collision of the two vehicles.

According to the complaint, on May 17, 2015, Guzman sustained injuries and damages near the 4600 block of the Katy Freeway as a result of being sideswiped in a collision caused by a city of Houston vehicle being driven by city employee Michael Anthony Locascio.

Guzman said he experienced pain and suffering, mental anguish, lost wages and medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges Locascio failed to keep proper lookout, failed to stay in a single lane of traffic and failed to keep a proper distance from the plaintiff's vehicle.

Guzman seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between  $100,000 and $200,000, and all other just and proper relief. He is represented by attorneys Roger A. Sullivan of Sullivan Trial Lawyers in Houston, and by A. Martin Halick of Halick & Associates in Houston.
