BEAUMONT — A Lumberton woman is suing a Beaumont hospital, alleging its negligence caused her to suffer an infection during the delivery of her child.

Cierra Marshall filed a complaint on May 19, in the Jefferson County District Court against Christus Hospital - St. Elizabeth alleging that the healthcare provider breached its duty to properly train and supervise its employees.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges on March 9, 2015, as a result of the defendant's employees' negligence, during the delivery of Marshall's child at Christus Hospital, the plaintiff developed a serious infection requiring continued medical care and treatment.

Marshall says she has suffered pain, mental anguish and necessary medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges Christus Hospital - St. Elizabeth's employees failed to account and remove all the pads and sponges used during her delivery and they were left inside her.

Marshall seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by attorneys Craig Lewis and Aaron J. Arenas of The Lewis Law Firm in Houston.
