HOUSTON — A Houston man is suing Office Depot, alleging employees of the defendant physically attacked him.

Robert Edness filed a complaint June 2 in Harris County District Court against Office Depot, alleging the defendant failed to properly train, monitor and supervise its employees.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 15, 2016, Edness was a paying customer at the Office Depot store on Westheimer Road, Houston, when he was seriously injured after being viciously assaulted by the on-duty manager and other employees. Edness says he suffered a minor stroke, swollen right eye, broken nose and other facial trauma.

The plaintiff alleges an Office Depot store manager punched him in the face and beat him about the head while other employees held him, allegedly for sitting in the wrong area of the store.

Edness seeks trial by jury, more than $50,000 in damages, plus interest, court costs and all other just and equitable relief. He is represented by attorneys Joseph M. Schreiber and Erik A. Knockaert of Schreiber Knockaert PLLC in Houston.
