HOUSTON — A Harris County maritime worker is suing cargo vessel operators, alleging their negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Paul Wade filed a complaint May 30 in Harris County District Court against Intermarine LLC and Crowley Maritime Corporation, alleging failure to provide a safe place to work.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 14, 2015, Wade was working aboard the defendants' vessel MV Ocean Giants when he was ordered to lift and carry heavy buckets of water without assistance. As a result, the suit says, Wade sustained aggravated hip and back injuries, plus medical expenses, pain and suffering and loss of earning capacity.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide sufficient crew and/or mechanical means to safely perform the tasks and failed to provide medical attention to the injured plaintiff.

Wade seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million and all other appropriate relief. He is represented by attorney Laura B. De La Cruz of Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer & Harris LLP in Houston.
