Worker blames maritime companies for injuries

Tugboat 01

HOUSTON — A Texas maritime worker is suing marine and shipyard companies, alleging their negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Armando Jardon filed a complaint May 31 in Harris County District Court against C.B.H. Services Inc, Kirby Inland Marine LP, Westport Orange Shipyard LLC and Hutco Inc., alleging violation of Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 11, 2015, Jardon was injured while employed by Hutco working on Kirby's barge, the K10225. The suit says the barge collided with another vessel being pulled by a C.B.H.'s tugboat. The lawsuit states Jardon suffered injuries to his knee and back.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide a safe working environment, failed to provide adequate training and supervision and failed to provide appropriate medical attention.

Jardon seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and all other relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by attorney Kurt B. Arnold, Caj D. Boatright, Alison L. Baimbridge and Roland Christensen of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
