HOUSTON — A Mineral Wells woman is suing a debt collector, alleging unfair debt collection practices.

Lisa Townsend filed a complaint June 6 in Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Harvest Associates Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

According to the complaint, Townsend's credit score has been lowered, which resulted in her inability to gain credit, less favorable interest rates and could hinder her future employment opportunities. The plaintiff alleges Harvest Associates re-reported her credit account after it had received her letter of dispute and failed to list the account as disputed by consumer.

Townsend seeks trial by jury, actual and statutory damages, attorney fees and costs and all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorney Michael Jay Ringelheim of RC Law Group PLLC in Hackensack, New Jersey.
