HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing Houston fitness center operators, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Stephanie Lozano filed a complaint June 6 in Harris County District Court against Life Fit Personal Fitness Studio LLC and Fabian Villarreal, alleging they failed to provide proper, safe and suitable equipment.

According to the complaint, on June 27, 2015, Lozano was a customer at the defendants' fitness facility on Fuqua Street in Houston. While using the jump box, the suit says, the equipment began to move and then tipped, causing her to fall onto the unpadded concrete below.

Lozano says she sustained serious injuries to her shoulder, arm, elbow, head and back because the defendants failed to properly secure the jump box and failed to instruct the plaintiff on how to safely use the equipment.

Lozano seeks trial by jury, monetary relief up to $500,000 and all other legal and equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys David K. Mestemaker, Norman Straub and Van Gardner of Mestemaker & Straub in Houston.
