HOUSTON — Five consumers are suing Credit One, alleging illegal debt collection practices.
Andrea Beeharry, Anthony Owens, Amanda Simons, William Goforth II and Todd Russo filed a complaint June 7 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Credit One Financial, alleging willful violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs suffered damages for actual monetary loss, annoyance, inconvenience and loss of use of their cellular telephones. The plaintiffs allege Credit One Financial repeatedly made unsolicited calls to the plaintiffs’ cellular phones, using an automatic dialing system or pre-recorded voice messages.
The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, statutory damages of $500 for each and every negligent violation and $1,500 each and every willful violation of the TCPA and enjoining the defendant from engaging in abusive and oppressive collection practices.
