HOUSTON — A black Harris County man is suing Aramark,  alleging deprivation of equal employment opportunities.

Ricky A. Johnson filed a complaint June 7 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Aramark, alleging violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, as a result of Aramark's unlawful and tortious conduct, Johnson, who had worked for Aramark as a grill cook since 2013, was caused to suffer substantial injury and damages, including pain and suffering and extreme mental anguish and emotional distress. The plaintiff alleges Aramark subjected him to racial discrimination and retaliated against Johnson for filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission by refusing to allow him to return to work.

Johnson seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, reinstatement, interest, court costs and all equitable relief.
