Pressure control operator alleges employer failed to pay overtime

GALVESTON — A pressure control operator is suing a technology company, alleging violation of workers compensation acts in failing to pay overtime.

Hector Lopez filed a complaint June 8 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Schlumberger Technology Corp. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, Lopez was damaged financially for not receiving overtime compensation at the rate no less than one and one-half times his regular rate of pay for all hours worked more than 40 in a week as required by FLSA. The plaintiff alleges Schlumberger, instead of paying Lopez's overtime, paid him a salary and bonus.

Lopez seeks trial by jury, unpaid back wages and liquidated damages, costs of court, attorney fees, interest and all appropriate relief. He is represented by attorneys Michael A. Josephson, Andrew W. Dunlap, Jessica M. Bresler and Lindsay R. Itkin of Josephson Dunlap Law Firm in Houston, and by Richard J. (Rex) Burch of Bruckner Burch PLLC in Houston.
