HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing blender manufacturers, alleging breach of express and implied warranties.

Yanhu Yi filed a complaint June 8 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Nutribullet LLC and Capital Brands LLC, alleging they failed to use reasonable care in designing and manufacturing the electric blender.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 29, 2015, Yi sustained serious burns to her upper body when the Nutribullet blender manufactured by defendants exploded in her home. Yi said she suffered pain, disfigurement, continued medical complications and economic damages.

The plaintiff alleges Nutribullet and Capital Brands failed to provide adequate instructions and warnings concerning the risks of using the blender.

Yi seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $75,000 from each defendant, attorney fees, court costs and all other legal and equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Mark O. Midani of The Midani Law Firm in Houston.
