Consumer alleges debt collector violated phone privacy law

BEAUMONT — A consumer has filed a class action lawsuit against a debt collector, alleging violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Craig Cunningham, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint June 13 in the Beaumont District of the Eastern District of Texas against Global Receivables Solutions Inc., alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, Cunningham has suffered actual monetary injury, including data and plan usage, lost time tending to and responding to the unsolicited phone calls, invasion of privacy and loss of concentration. The plaintiff alleges the defendant made numerous phone calls to his cellular telephone using an automatic telephone dialing system and without plaintiff's consent.

Cunningham seeks trial by jury, statutory and treble damages, attorney fees and court costs and all other reasonable and just relief. He is represented by attorney  Aaron K. Mulvey of The Law Offices of Aaron K. Mulvey PLLC in Dallas.
