Consumer accuses telemarketers of harassment

Phone 09

HOUSTON — A Harris County man is suing telemarketers, alleging violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Joe Shields filed a complaint June 14 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Golden Ticket Gateways Inc., Clement Scantlebury, Daniel Lambert and James Verrillo, alleging they willfully violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, Shields has suffered damages for the invasion of his privacy and loss of data usage in his cell phone. The plaintiff alleges the defendants kept making calls using an automatic telephone dialing system and/or pre-recorded voice message and without Shields' prior express consent.

Shields seeks trial by jury, actual and treble damages as allowed by law, cost of court and all other equitable relief. The plaintiff is representing himself.
