Man claims he was fired after hand was cut by sushi knife at Sushi Coast

Medical malpractice 05

HOUSTON – A Harris County man alleges that he has been unable to find gainful employment due to a hand injury he sustained while working for a Webster sushi restaurant.

Jesse Solis filed a complaint on June 16 in the Harris County District Court against Sushi Coast Inc. alleging negligence and negligent hiring.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 30, 2016, he was in the course and scope of his employment with defendant when another employee sliced the plaintiff's hand with a sushi knife. He alleges he needed immediate medical treatment and that the defendant refused to pay for his medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges he was fired when he returned to work.

The plaintiff holds Sushi Coast Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently failed to properly supervise and train employees on proper knife handling skills.

The plaintiff seeks actual and punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest and such other lawful and equitable relief. He is represented by Justin W. R. Renshaw of Renshaw PC in Houston.
