HOUSTON – A Florida man is seeking more than $2 million after an incident on a Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. vessel.

Wardell Brown filed a complaint on June 21 in the Harris County District Court against Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. LLC alleging failure to pay and/or delay paying maintenance and cure benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 21, 2016, he was working on defendant's vessel and was injured when an electrical box he was working on exploded and threw him several feet. The suit states that the plaintiff has been placed on a "no work" status by the defendant since the date of the incident. The plaintiff alleges he has sustained severe bodily injuries.

The plaintiff holds Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to have adequately trained personnel directing plaintiff's work and denied to continue paying maintenance and cure benefits.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $2 million and such other lawful and equitable relief. He is represented by Anthony G. Buzbee and Christopher J. Leavitt of The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
