GALVESTON — A Harris County man is suing Nike, alleging a store's negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Andrew Silva filed a complaint June 23 in Galveston County District Court against Nike Inc. and Tanger Properties LP, alleging they failed to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, on July 5, 2015, Silva was in the Nike outlet store at a Tanger Properties mall in Texas City when a metal-encased sign fell and struck him on the head.

Silva says he suffered serious bodily injuries resulting in medical expenses, pain, suffering, mental anguish and loss of earning capacity. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to inspect the premises and correct the dangerous condition and failed to warn Silva of such condition.

Silva seeks trial by jury, monetary between $200,000 and $1 million and all other and relief. He is represented by attorneys Frank Wathen and John Arthur Daspit of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
