HOUSTON — An Arkansas maritime worker is suing his employer and a barge owner, alleging their negligence led to injuries for the defendant.
Chris Brothers filed a complaint June 23 in Harris County District Court against Kinder Morgan Marines Services LLC and American Commercial Barge Line LLC, alleging they failed to provide a safe place to work.
According to the complaint, on Oct. 9, 2016, Brothers was employed by Kinder Morgan and was working on the tugboat Austin Stone tying a barge owned by American Commercial. The suit says Brothers was severely injured in his neck, shoulder and back when a wire line from the barge snapped.
Brothers says he has sustained pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of earnings and medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide safety equipment for the job and failed to properly train and supervise their crew.
Brothers seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, plus interest, attorney fees, court costs and all other just and proper relief.
