Former employee accuses sea transportation company of wrongful termination

HOUSTON — A Katy woman is suing a sea transport service provider, alleging age discrimination and wrongful termination.

Judy A. Harrison filed a complaint June 26 in Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Chipolbrok America Inc., alleging violation of the Texas Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 31, 2016, Harrison was terminated from her employment due to her age (64) and for being diagnosed with breast cancer. The plaintiff says she suffered pecuniary losses and mental anguish.

The plaintiff alleges Chipolbrok America dismissed Harrison to cut costs, retained a young woman who was handling Harrison's documentation duties and hired a younger person to handle her other duties.

Harrison seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and court costs and and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys Gary Robin Maze of Maze IP Law PC in Friendswood and Owen S Jones of Law Offices of Owen Jones in Friendswood.
