Mother blames used truck dealer for daughter's death

HOUSTON — A Brazoria County woman is suing a used truck dealer, alleging negligence led to the death of her daughter.

Glenda Mott filed a complaint on June 28, in the Harris County District Court against Texas Auto Group LLC alleging that the used truck dealer violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

According to the complaint, on July 16, 2015, Mott's daughter, Shelly Mott, died in a vehicle accident when the sector shaft of the 2008 Dodge truck she was driving on broke and caused her to loose control of the steering. The suit says Mott went into the ditch and died shortly afterward. 

Glenda Mott says she has been damaged for the loss of her daughter. The plaintiff alleges Texas Auto Group negligently sold a defective truck to her daughter and failed to disclose defects that were known or should have known to Shelly Mott.

Glenda Mott seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $1 milliion, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other equitable relief.. She is represented by attorney David L. Sheller of The Sheller Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
