HOUSTON – A Harris County man alleges his former employer made false and defamatory statements regarding him.
David Theis filed a complaint on July 13 in the Harris County District Court against IGT Holdings LLC, TRS Services LLC and Thomas Nugent alleging defamation and libel.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff and TRS entered into a severance agreement following the termination of his relationship as officer and employee of TRS. He alleges he was promised 12 months of his annual base salary, or $275,000.
The plaintiff holds IGT Holdings LLC, TRS Services LLC and Nugent responsible because the defendants allegedly failed and refused to pay the remaining three months' severance pay and made false and defamatory statements to his new employer portraying him as a false light, scofflaw, criminal and fraudulent businessman.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and exemplary damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and all other relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by Neil E. Giles and Jeffrey T. Bentch of Hall Maines Lugrin PC in Houston.
