GALVESTON — A Freeport maritime worker is suing a Brazoria County offshore oil business, alleging an unsafe work environment.

According to the complaint, on July 4, Johnston sustained serious injuries to his neck, back and body aboard the M/V Marilyn M when captain Kent Weaver and a fellow crew member viciously assaulted him as the plaintiff descended the steps from the bridge deck.

Johnston says he has suffered mental anguish, physical impairment, lost earnings and medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to prevent alcoholic consumption aboard the M/V Marilyn M and failed to provide maintenance and cure for the problem that led to his injuries.

Johnston seeks trial by jury, actual and punitive damages, plus interest, attorney fees, costs of court and all other general and special relief. He is represented by attorney Alan Kolodny of Kolodny Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
