SHERMAN — A Dallas man is suing a consumer packaging company, alleging failure to uphold Americans with Disabilities Act regulations.

Charles Allen Shaw filed a complaint July 18 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern Division of Texas against Sonoco Products Company, alleging violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, Shaw was caused to suffer lost wages and benefits, emotional pain and suffering, mental anguish and other non-pecuniary losses. The plaintiff alleges Sonoco failed to make reasonable accommodations for his elbow tendinitis disability, retaliated against him and terminated his employment April 18 for engaging in protected activity.

The plaintiff seeks trial by jury, all damages, reinstatement to his former position, attorney fees, pre-judgment interest, court costs and all other legal and equitable relief. He is represented by attorney John E. Wall Jr. of Law Offices of John E. Wall Jr. in Dallas.
