Stodghill & Associates Inc. alleged to have misrepresented property's dimensions in report

Law money 06

HOUSTON – Two Harris County residents allege they were damaged when they sold their property because of an inaccurate report.

Michael Trejo & Gabriela Trejo filed a complaint on July 21 in the Harris County District Court against Stodghill & Associates Inc. and Ruth L. Stodghill alleging that they violated the Deceptive Trade Practices Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the defendants drafted and produced a uniform residential appraisal report in 2013 for the plaintiffs before they purchased their home. The plaintiffs allege that this report was improperly done and that the defendants did not measure the dwelling and garage-carport area correctly. Because of these errors, the plaintiffs allege they had to sell the property for $20,000 less.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek monetary relief of no more than $100,000 and all further relief to which plaintiffs are deemed entitled. They are represented by Shane McClelland and Luis Baez of Herbert & McClelland LLP in Houston.
