Auto collision suit settles before trial

Car accident 25

BEAUMONT – An automobile collision suit called up for trial settled before a jury could be selected, according to a Jefferson County courthouse official.

In March 2012, Ashley Selman, individually and as next of friend of Amaya Selman, filed suit against Beaumont local Lisa Everett, who allegedly rear-ended the two plaintiffs.

The case was called up for trial on July 31.

According to the lawsuit, on April 5, 2010, the Selmans were rear-ended by a vehicle operated by Everett.

The suit alleged Everett negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, control her rate of speed and apply her brakes in a timely manner.

The plaintiffs were suing for their alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Judge Justin Sanderson, 6oth District Court, was assigned to the case.

Case No. B192-199
