HOUSTON – A Harris County woman employed as a catalyst hand at a Texas City plant alleges she was injured because of a poorly lit area.

Schonell Sims filed a complaint on Aug. 16 in the Harris County District Court against Mattawa Industrial Services (USA) Inc., Mitchell Moinat and Ineos Styrolution America LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 7, she was injured when she fell into a hole at defendants' Mattawa's styrene resin reactor. The suit states that the reactor was poorly lit and that Moinat failed to provide her with a light. She alleges she sustained serious injuries to his ribs, neck and right ankle.

The plaintiff holds Mattawa Industrial Services (USA) Inc., Moinat and Ineos Styrolution America LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide adequate lighting and equipment, failed to implement adequate safety procedures to ensure her safety and failed to warn her of the hazards and dangers associated with the premises.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other lawful and equitable relief. She is represented by Ryan H. Zehl and Matt L. Martin of Zehl & Associates PC in Houston.
