HOUSTON – A bakery franchise employee alleges he was not paid for all hours worked.
Leonard Esparza, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint on Aug. 23 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Arandas Franchises Inc. and Arandas Bakery No. 4 Inc., alleging that they deliberately violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed as a baker for the defendant. He alleges that the defendants failed to pay employees for all hours worked.
The plaintiff holds Arandas Franchises Inc. and Arandas Bakery No. 4 Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay both minimum wage and overtime compensation at a rate of time-and-one-half.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks unpaid minimum wages and overtime compensation, liquidated damages, attorneys’ fees, costs and expenses and such other lawful and equitable relief. He is represented by Beatriz Sosa-Morris and John Neuman of Sosa-Morris Neuman Attorneys at Law in Houston.
