BEAUMONT – A Nederland minor alleges that she sustained injuries on Tugboat Island because of a defective condition.

Clint Varnado, individually and as next friend on behalf of minor L. Varnado, and Lainie Varnado filed a complaint on Aug. 14 in the Jefferson County District Court against the city of Port Neches alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Sept. 11, 2015, Lainie Varnado sustained injuries at Port Neches Park's Tugboat Island due to defective equipment. She alleges she sustained severe injuries to her left shoulder and arm and suffered medical expenses, loss of earnings, pain, mental anguish and disfigurement.

The plaintiffs holds City of Port Neches responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn the general public of the condition.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of more than $100,000 but not more than $200,000 and any other relief to which they are entitled. They are represented by Jonathan C. Juhan and J. J. Bragg of Jonathan C. Juhan, Attorney at Law in Beaumont.
