Rigger alleges he was injured on LOOP platform while carrying equipment

Oilrig 03

GALVESTON – A rigger claims he was injured on a platform off of the coast of Louisiana.

Conrad Winkler Jr. filed a complaint on Sept. 5 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Marathon Pipe Line LLC, Shell Oil Co., Valero Terminaling and Distribution Co. and LOOP LLC alleging that they violated the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 2, 2016, he was working as a rigger for Dolphin Services on defendants’ platform when he sustained serious and disabling injuries. He alleges he was injured while required to manually carry a welder's box while using stairs.

The plaintiff holds Marathon Pipe Line LLC, Shell Oil Co., Valero Terminaling and Distribution Co. and LOOP LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to maintain the platform in a reasonably safe condition and failed to insure that said work by all contractors was done in a safe and prudent manner.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and punitive damages, pre- and and post-judgment interest, attorneys' fees, costs of suit and such other and further relief. He is represented by Marcus R. Spagnoletti and Mary Holmesly of Spagnoletti & Co. in Houston.
