BEAUMONT – A Jefferson County man alleges that he was injured while sandblasting for his employer.

Abel Torres filed a complaint on Sept. 7 in the Jefferson County District Court against Lewis Specialties Trucking Service LLC and Antonio Lewis alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 26, 2015, he sustained serious bodily injuries and damages when he fell while sandblasting on an unsecured ladder. He alleges he has suffered physical pain, disability, mental anguish and medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Lewis Specialties Trucking Service LLC and Lewis responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide proper and safe tools, machinery and equipment and failed to secure the area where the plaintiff was working.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other general and special relief. He is represented by David Swick of Smith & Hassler in Houston.
