SHERMAN – A Denton consumer claims a debt collection agency has called her 121 times after she requested it to stop.
Angelica C. Turner filed a complaint on Sept. 19 in the Sherman District of the Eastern District of Texas against Paramount Recovery Systems LP alleging that the debt collection agency violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she has suffered concrete harm for invasion of privacy, emotional distress, loss of cellular phone capacity and decreased battery life because of the defendant's collection calls.
The plaintiff holds Paramount Recovery Systems LP responsible because the defendant allegedly continued to persistently place collection calls to her cellular phone multiple times per day after being instructed to stop calling.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,000 and treble damages, actual damages, costs, attorney fees and any further relief as the court deems just and appropriate. She is represented by Nathan C. Volheim and Taxiarchis Hatzidimitriadis of Sulaiman Law Group LTD in Lombard, Illinois.
