Kia Motors faces suit from individuals who claim Kia Rio failed to protect them in crash

Car accident 22

SHERMAN – A Denton couple alleges their Kia vehicle failed to protect them in a collision and is seeking damages from the auto manufacturers.

Linnea Flores and Dalton Knowles filed a complaint on Sept. 22 in the Sherman District of the Eastern District of Texas against Kia Motors America Inc. and Kia Motors Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Dec. 24, 2016, Linnea Flores and Dalton Knowles sustained serious injuries when the 2008 Kia Rio they were riding in was struck by another vehicle and failed to protect them. They allege the vehicle violated crashworthiness principles, including a failure to provide adequate protection to the lower legs, designs that protected the survival space and proper restraint.

The plaintiffs seek actual damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of suit and all other general and special relief. They are represented by E. Todd Tracy, Stewart D. Matthews and Andrew G. Counts of The Tracy Firm in Dallas.
