BEAUMONT — A customer is suing the parent company of Outback Steakhouse, alleging that insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries in one of the restaurants.
Yvette Morris filed a complaint on Sept. 22 in the Jefferson County District Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to maintain the restaurant premises in a reasonably safe condition.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 29, 2017, she sustained injuries to her back, neck, right shoulder, right hip, right knee and other parts of her body during a fall. She has experienced pain and suffering, mental anguish and medical expenses, the complaint said. The plaintiff holds Bloomin Brands Inc., which does business as Outback Steakhouse, responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to eliminate and remove a hazardous condition and failed to warn its customers about the condition.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, costs of court, pre- and post-judgment interest and other lawful and equitable relief. She is represented by James E. Payne and Ronnie Turner Jr. of the Provost Umphrey Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
