BEAUMONT — A restaurant employee is suing Burgers of Beaumont 1 Ltd., alleging that insufficient measures were taken to prevent workplace injuries.
Monique Davis filed a complaint on Sept. 28 in the Jefferson County District Court against the restaurant operator, alleging that the company allowed unsafe conditions to exist at its Whataburger restaurant.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in October 2016, she severely injured her knee when she slipped and fell on water on the floor after the area was mopped by another employee. She has experienced mental anguish, pain and suffering, disfigurement and loss of earning capacity, the complaint said. The plaintiff holds Burgers of Beaumont 1 Ltd. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide reasonably safe working conditions and lacked workers' compensation insurance.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000 but less than $200,000 and other general and special relief. She is represented by Michael R. Ramsey and Katherine D. Ramsey of the Ramsey Law Firm in Beaumont.
