Walgreens customer sues over fall on waxed floor

Slip01

BEAUMONT — A Walgreens customer is suing the pharmacy chain and M Tello Floor Care over injuries she sustained during a fall inside one of the company's stores.

Carla Jackson filed a complaint on Sept. 28 in the Jefferson County District Court against the defendants, alleging that they breached their duty to maintain safe conditions for their customers.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 7, 2015, she was shopping at the store in Beaumont when she slipped and fell while approaching the register area. She has suffered severe and debilitating pain to her elbow, back and leg, the complaint said. The plaintiff holds Walgreen Co. and M Tello Floor Care responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide warning signs around the area, which was freshly waxed and where another person had fallen earlier in the day, according to the complaint.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief in excess of $100,000 but not more than $200,000 and all other relief to which she is justly entitled. She is represented by Jonathan C. Juhan and J. J. Bragg of Jonathan C. Juhan, Attorney at Law in Beaumont.
