HOUSTON – A Harris County couple alleges their home was damaged when a valve on their water heater failed.
Thomas Scott and Linda Scott filed a complaint on Oct. 6 in the Harris County District Court against Honeywell International Inc. alleging strict liability design defect, negligence and breach of warranty.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on April 16, they experienced extensive water damage to their home because one of the defendant's values in the water heater failed. The suit states that the estimated restoration cost is $115,276.70 and the cost for their relocation during restoration period is estimated at $5,000.
The plaintiffs hold Honeywell International Inc. responsible because the defendant's valve allegedly was unsafe for its intended use.
The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of less than $200,000 and such other general and special relief that are lawful and equitable. They are represented by Paul A. Koks of Paul A. Koks Law Office in Friendswood.
