NCL (Bahamas) LTD cruise line cook alleges he was injured on job

Cruise 08

GALVESTON – A cruise line cook alleges he was injured on the job and that his employer failed to provide maintenance and cure benefits.

Milton Brown Jr. filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against NCL (Bahamas) LTD and NCL Corp. LTD alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 15, 2016, he was injured while in the course and scope of his employment as a cook for defendants working aboard the Pride of America, a passenger vessel owned and operated by defendants. He alleges he was lifting stores aboard the vessel and injured his neck. He claims he sustained serious and debilitating injuries to his neck, shoulders, right arm and other parts of his body.

The plaintiff holds NCL (Bahamas) LTD and NCL Corp. LTD responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to staff the vessel with sufficient crewmembers and failed to provide proper tools and equipment for the task on hand and failed and/or refused to provide maintenance and cure.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and all other and further relief. He is represented by Laura B. De La Cruz of Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer & Harris LLP in Houston.
