Phone 08

HOUSTON – A Houston consumer alleges a debt collector invaded her privacy with collection calls.

Angela T. Edwards filed a complaint on Oct. 18 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Credit Control Services Inc., doing business as CCS Cos., alleging that the third-party debt collector violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Texas Debt Collection Act and the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in early this year, she began receiving calls to her cellular phone from defendant attempting to collect upon an alleged debt. She alleges she instructed it to stop calling but that it has called 21 times since that request. She alleges she has expended approximately $68 quell such calls.

The plaintiff holds Credit Control Services Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly continued to persistently place collection calls to her cellular phone even after it was asked to stop calling and made calls using an automatic telephone dialing system.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,000 and treble damages of least $500 for each violation, attorney fees, costs and such other just and appropriate relief. She is represented by Nathan C. Volheim and Taxiarchis Hatzidimitriadis of Sulaiman Law Group LTD in Lombard, Illinois.
