GALVESTON – A Harris County woman claims she was hurt during a boat ride last year and has filed a lawsuit, according to recent Galveston County District Court records.

Ruby Taylor is suing Kemah local Johnnie Eicher for the event in question. She initiated legal action in the Galveston County 122nd District Court on Oct. 18.

Taylor and Eicher were sailing in the waters near the Texas-Louisiana border on Nov. 11, 2016 when the latter drove his boat “into rocks and other obstacles,” recent court papers say.

The suit asserts that the defendant operated the vessel at an excessive rate of speed, as well as failed to take proper action to avoid a collision.

Taylor adds that she did nothing to contribute to the incident.

Consequently, she seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
