Seafood eatery implicated in pedestrian's drunk driving case

Car accident 34

HOUSTON – A seafood restaurant is blamed for a single-vehicle accident reportedly caused by a drunk driver.

Syed Rizvi filed a lawsuit against Y.H. Chang, Inc., doing business as El Pacifico Seafood Restaurant, on Oct. 20 in the Harris County 190th District Court, claiming the establishment served alcohol to the motorist, Eduardo Cruz Sanchez, last Jan. 14. Rizvi says a drunken Sanchez hit him with his vehicle.

According to the suit, the defendant was aware that Sanchez was intoxicated but allowed him to continue to drink, leave the premises, and drive home. It further alleges that Sanchez, who is not a party in the case, struck Rizvi with his 2007 Dodge Caravan while trying to exit the respondent’s parking lot.

Sanchez’s BAC level was two times the legal limit, recent court papers say.

A jury trial is requested.

Attorney Jason P. Hoelscher of the law firm Sico Hoelscher Harris & Braugh LLP in Corpus Christi serves as the plaintiff’s lead counsel.
