BEAUMONT – Two African-American men are seeking more than $5 million in damages from their former employer over discrimination allegations.

Charles Martin and Ardre Neal filed a complaint on Nov. 2, 2017, in the Beaumont Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Team Industrial Services Inc. and TeamQualSpec citing the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs were employed by the defendants as technicians before their terminations. They allege that non-black technicians were paid more than they were and that they were subjected to racial slurs and derogatory statements.

The plaintiffs hold Team Industrial Services Inc. and TeamQualSpec responsible because the defendants allegedly discriminated against them because of their race and subjected them to a hostile work environment.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory and punitive damages of $5 million, reinstatement to their rightful positions or front pay, attorney's fees, costs and any further relief as the court deems just and proper. They are represented by Victoria Plante-Northington of Plante Law Firm PC in Houston.
