HOUSTON – A Humble woman has filed a suit against a physician and medical facility over a surgical procedure that allegedly failed.
Chaleeswat Namink filed a complaint on Nov. 2 in the Harris County District Court against Kingwood Medical Center, Dr. Stephanie E. Champions MD and Care for Women OB/GYN alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, Champions performed a vaginal hysterectomy on the plaintiff in November 2015 at Kingwood Medical Center. The suit states the surgical procedure failed and that Champions' notes only gave it a 50 percent success rate.
The suit states the plaintiff went back to Kingwood Medical Center on Dec. 14, 2015, because of bleeding complications and was discharged the next day. The suit states the plaintiff was discharged with an IV port still in her arm and several electrical pads from an EKG were also still attached.
The plaintiff holds Kingwood Medical Center, Champions and Care for Women OB/GYN responsible because Champions allegedly failed to convey to the plaintiff that the procedure had only 50 percent chance of success and negligently performed the procedure. She alleges she suffers from complications because of the procedure.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for damages in an amount within the jurisdictional limits of the court with interest, costs of court and such other and further relief. She is represented by Lynne M. Jurek and Johali Muzaliwa of The Jurek Law Group PLLC in Houston.
