Late 03

HOUSTON – A South Carolina consumer alleges a Houston-based debt collector's letter failed to state the name of the creditor.

Pearl Adams filed a complaint on Nov. 3 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Universal Fidelity LP alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 7, 2016, she received an initial letter from defendant seeking to collect an alleged debt. She alleges the letter does not convey the name of the current creditor and because of this omission, she has been damaged.

The plaintiff seeks actual and statutory damages, attorney's fees, costs expenses and disbursements and any other just and proper relief. She is represented by Michael Jay Ringelheim of RC Law Group PLLC in Hackensack, New Jersey.
