HOUSTON – The children of a man who formerly resided at two Missouri City skilled nursing facilities allege negligence caused his untimely death.
Frankie Thomas, individually and on behalf of Frank Thomas Sr., deceased, Anthony Thomas, et al. filed a complaint on Nov. 3, in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against SSC Missouri City Operating Co. LLC, Regency IHS of Windsor Quail Valley LLC and Regency Integrated Health Services LLC alleging medical negligence and other counts.
According to the complaint, plaintiffs' decedent Frank Thomas Sr. was a resident a First Colony Health and Rehabilitation Center and later transferred to Windsor Quail Valley, which were operated and/or controlled by the defendants.
The plaintiffs allege that in February 2016, Frank Thomas Sr. developed two pressure ulcers on his right buttocks that worsened into a single, severe Stage IV wound. The suit states the wound became infected and developed osteomyelitis, a life-threatening infection of the bone. He died on Dec. 22, 2016, the suit states.
The plaintiffs hold SSC Missouri City Operating Co. LLC, Regency IHS of Windsor Quail Valley LLC and Regency Integrated Health Services LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to monitor and evaluate their decedent's condition and failed to create and implement an appropriate care plan.
The plaintiffs seek all damages, pre- and post-judgment interest and such other just and proper relief. They are represented by Patrick W. Powers and Gabriel Canto of Powers Taylor LLP in Dallas.
