BEAUMONT – The dismissal of a sex discrimination lawsuit against the Texas Department of Transportation is currently before the Ninth Court of Appeals.
In 2012, plaintiff Lisa Granger, a female, filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against TxDOT in Tyler County, alleging sex discrimination.
For 16 years, Granger worked as a maintenance tech for TxDOT at its Woodville office until October 2010.
Granger claims she was retaliated against for complaints about her salary being disproportionate when compared to her male counterpart performing the same work.
In January, the trial court granted TxDOT’s plea to the jurisdiction and motion for summary judgment, dismissing all of Granger’s claims.
Granger appealed the following month, arguing that she presented sufficient evidence to support her claims of sex discrimination and retaliation, warranting a waiver of TxDOT’s sovereign immunity.
The cause is set for submission on the record only on Nov. 14.
Granger is represented by Missouri City attorney Larry Watts.
TxDOT is represented by attorney Anthony Brocato Jr.
