Lawsuit arises from 2015 accident involving TCDJ prison bus

Car accident 20

GALVESTON – Houston attorney Tanika J. Solomon has filed a lawsuit on behalf of a group of people aboard a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison bus that was reportedly involved in an accident in Galveston two years ago, recent Galveston County District Court records indicate.

Court documents filed on Nov. 13 in the Galveston County 56th District Court pin the subject event on Nov. 3, 2015 on TDCJ and Galveston County residents Irene Trombly and Asmeen Bhatt.

The complaint explains that the bus was traveling westbound on Avenue J when Bhatt struck something in the roadway and stopped his vehicle in the main lane prompting the bus’s driver to also stop. Trombly then struck the bus, the suit says.

Bhatt and Trombly are faulted for not properly operating their respective vehicles while TDCJ is accused of allegedly providing a bus without seat belts.
