HOUSTON – A Harris County woman has pursued legal action in response to an alleged crime which occurred last May at a Burlington Coat Factory of Texas store in the northwest part of the county.

Esmeralda Dominguez’s lawsuit against the business, filed on Nov. 14 in the Harris County 157th District Court, explains that Dominguez and her family were shopping on May 22 when four robbers entered the store without warning.

“It was unclear whether the robbers’ intent was to rob the store, assault the customers, or both,” the original petition says. “There was neither any visible deterrent, nor were there any security guards.”

Dominguez adds that she became injured while attempting to protect her family.

Consequently, she seeks unspecified monetary damages.

Attorneys David K. Mestemaker, Norman Straub, Van Gardner, and Jonathan B. Zumwalt of the law firm Mestemaker & Straub in Houston are representing the plaintiff.
