HOUSTON – An employee of a Baytown bar and grill is seeking more than $200,000 after cutting his hand and wrist on a glass bottle while working.

Randel Tanner filed a complaint on Nov. 16 in the Harris County District Court against David Stephens, doing business as Dos XX Dave's, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 13, he was injured while working at defendant's bar when the bottle he was inserting into the cooler shattered in his hand. The suit states the plaintiff's hand and wrist were sliced by the glass, causing him to suffer life-threatening injuries.

The plaintiff holds Stephens responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently instructed its employees to utilize a dangerous work method by requiring them to forcefully push glass bottles into an ice-filled cooler.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and any additional relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by Daniel Johnson and Juan C. Garcia of Johnson Garcia LLP in Houston.
