HOUSTON – A Harris County father alleges his minor child was injured at a sporting goods store by an improperly secured item.

Kyle Stephens, individually and as next friend of C.S., a minor filed a complaint on Nov. 20, 2017, in the Harris County District Court against Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 23, 2016, minor plaintiff was injured at defendant's Friendswood store by an improperly secured weight bar that hit her in the head and back.

The plaintiff holds Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain the premises in a safe condition and failed to provide adequate and understandable warnings of the unsafe condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages within the jurisdictional limits of the court, pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs and such other and further relief. They are represented by Eric D. Nielsen of The Nielsen Law Firm PC in Houston.
