GALVESTON – A Galveton couple claims they discovered construction defects and dangerous conditions in work performed by a contractor.

Stan Humphrey and Diane Humphrey filed a complaint on Nov. 22 in the Galveston County District Court against TDG General Contractors Inc. alleging that the Texas corporation violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, breach of contract and negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in 2009, they entered into a contract with defendant to repair and improve their property following Hurricane Ike. In 2017, they allege they discovered construction defects and other related dangerous conditions in the defendant's work. As a result of defendants' alleged negligence, they claim the estimate cost of expenses to repair their home is more than $25,000.

The plaintiffs hold TDG General Contractors Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to complete its work in a good and workmanlike manner.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of $100,000 or less and non-monetary relief. They are represented by Robert E. Booth and Ashley N. Joyner of Mills Shirley LLP in Galveston.
