Houston ISD seeks damages from motor vehicle owner, driver over employee's injuries

HOUSTON – The Houston Independent School District is seeking to recover damages after one of its employees was struck while directing traffic in 2016.

Houston Independent School District filed a complaint on Nov. 27 in the Harris County District Court against Pierre Ledon Draper and Arthur Williams alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 3, 2016, its employee Frank Tarrago suffered injuries when defendants' motor vehicle made an improper turn and hit him while Tarrago was directing cars. As a result, the plaintiff alleges it became liable for workers' compensation benefits for him in the total amount of $15,750.50. 

The suit states Draper and Williams own and/or drove the vehicle in question.

The plaintiff holds Draper and Williams responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to maintain a careful lookout, failed to yield right of way to a pedestrian and failed to operate the vehicle in safe manner.

The plaintiff seeks actual damages, pre- and post-judgment interest and such other legal and equitable relief. it is represented by Dean G. Pappas and Mary Markantonis of Dean G. Pappas Law firm PLLC in Houston.
